1) On cupcakes - Hermia, Sweet Melissa's cupcakes are great and Andrea (the baker) is really wonderful to with with. We're having three different types of cupcakes and her prices for decorated and filled cupcakes were reasonable (I thought). She was also very generous in the tastings and then left me other flavors to try at the store. Again, let me know if you need the contact info for her and I'll post it. P.S. I do think she has a cupcake tree...

2) We did have cupcakes! I think, based on people's comments, that they were one of the highlights of the wedding... We got ours from Sweet Melissa's in Brooklyn and they were $4/cupcake. We had three great flavors (lemon, chocolate-passion fruit, toasted almond) and she made these great sugar decorations (3-D flowers, butterflies, birds, etc). She also delivered and set them up (and has a cupcake stand).

Cost for a wedding will depend on what day, what month and the time of
day you are looking. Pricing will vary depending on whether you are
looking for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and whether you are flexible as
far as afternoon or evening. For example, on a Saturday evening in
September, we require a minimum of 200 guests and pricing is $235 per
person, plus 22% service and NY Tax. For a Sunday evening however, that
minimum is 150 guests (more around your anticipated guest count) and
pricing is $175 per person. Pricing for children ranges depending on the
type of menu you wish to offer them from $40 (for a kid friendly meal:
Chicken fingers etc) to half price (for a served adult meal for the older
kids).
The only items not included are the more personal ones such are your
flowers, music and photography.

Prices from Edna Valley:(Lighthouse--Note: I think Pier Sixty
is the same pricing, but it might not be)

Saturday night:
175 person minimum, $205 per person, plus/plus

The charge for service is twofold. There is a 20% gratuity added to the food
and beverage cost for servers. Then there is a "Service Charge" for the Chef
for the evening which would be around $350.00 for the amount of guests we
are talking about.
If we are planning for 90 guests I
would anticipate rental costs for plates,

be between $1500 and $2000.

*****OUTDOOR SPACE*****

Inside the Foundry we can comfortably seat up to 125 with a dance floor, but you also have the option to use our courtyard (please be sure to check photos on our website) to accommodate larger groups up to 160 guests for a sit-down dinner. Even for smaller parties, the courtyard is perfect for a cocktail hour or even a ceremony.

Clients may choose to rent a tent in the event of foul weather, or keep the courtyard exposed. Outside space in the courtyard is additional to rent.
Rental rate is determined by size. These prices are fixed and do not vary by day or season.

30'x40' - $1,500
30'x60' - $1,750

Please note that these rates do NOT include tent rental. Use of the courtyard is usually available only Friday-Sunday. Please be sure to visit our Images page on our website for photos.

*****TIMING*****

The rental rate allows you to occupy the space up to 12 hours. This block of time also covers time to set things up and breakdown. Most clients choose a block of 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM as the party curfew is 12:30 AM and the caterers or other vendor’s breakdown until 2:00 AM after you and your guests leave. We allow you 12 hours so you have the flexibility of coming in earlier in the afternoon to set up additional decorations etc. in the space. If you wish to extend the guest curfew past 12:30 AM, an overtime rate of $750/hour will be charged.

Space rental runs from 12 noon - 12 midnight and music must end at 11:30 pm.

There's a charge of $2000 per hour to extend the event after midnight.

To hold just a ceremony the cost is only $3,000 and you receive the space from 8:00 am - 11:30 am

Overall, the space comes with a choice of linens and drapery (there are about 30 choices available in the linens and most are brocade patterns and much more elegant than solid covers at most other venues we saw).

Tables are provided (all are round) -- there are I thkn 5 different sizes that they provide and chairs.

They assist your event people in setting up the enite ceremony and provide a crew to cleanup after you event.

I think the best thing about A.O. is the Lighting Designer who comes with the site fee. You worked directly with him to create a lighting scheme for your entire event -- allowing you to change the entire look of the space (if you wanted to).

In prospect park in Brooklyn. Barbara was great to work with. We didn’t go with this, mainly because there was no a/c, the space was smaller than we hoped for and if it rained there was just that one room to do ceremony and reception in. BUT it is a beautiful space, they say it accommodates up to 175 (I have read its more comfortable closer to 140); their list of caterers is pretty good; the cost ($4,350) is pretty good- but there is no kitchen so the catering cost can add up. the space for ceremonies is really pretty, but be warned that the park is open to the public, if that bothers you.

This is a cool loft space on the third floor of a building on Broadway around Grand or so. The coordinator said that they can do up to 150 for cocktails, but we thought it would be a bit tight. For next summer, the rate for 10-12 hours would be around $5500. This includes a security guard (?), someone to work the elevator, busboys, clean-up, etc. This is probably negotiable. You can bring your own caterer or use theirs. There is a sound system to hook your dj or ipod into and some very cool South Pacific-y furniture if you are into that sort of thing (I am, Mr. Boogie, not so much). They can take the furniture out if you would like.

The space is $500 per hour on weekends. We were hoping for views, but the building is overshadowed by some tall skyscrapers. It would be nice option if you were looking for something outside, but not in a park. There is a tent up from April through October. You can bring your own caterer or use theirs. There are some tables and chairs that could be used for seating, so you could save a bit on rentals. The indoor space felt a bit institutional, we don't have the flower budget to warm it up.

Amareluz, a creative NY IB is getting married here, and will give us an update on how it all goes. It's quite a find in this area--views, outside...it's not for the faint of heart with planning, but it is a completely original place and if you are looking for something outside and different, this might be your place.

Totheworld is getting hitched there! It's not open to the public, but I think if you have a member of your family?

Photographers : Overview

Even when packages “start” at a lower price, they often add up to close to 5k with the albums added in anyway, so ask all the questions you have up front. There are a TON of photographers, so although it is really important to find someone you love and book them, Brooklynbride2007 doesn’t at ALL think that this is a good representation of what this area has to offer.

An artist that does free-lance wedding work for fun. We loved meeting with him and were impressed with what he had to show us. But the best part for us (and our meager budget) is that he only charges $500 for up to 8 hours of digital coverage(he told us that he had no problem staying longer if need be). The only drawback is that he offers no printing services--he just gives you all of the pictures on cds (full set, full set of b&w, and a set of "photographer's picks") with cropping and retouching and then you're on your own.

This is who we went with--just get to the weddings photos, that opening shot is not my favorite. As of today, her price was $4950, but she is willing to really work with most budgets. Her price includes 8-10 hours coverage, color (digital only I think) and b/w (film and digital); get all negatives/cds; actual hard copy proofs not in a magazine; large album with around 150 photos; internet site; assistant who shoots getting ready shots, engagement session. We went with Cynthia because after meeting with 5 others, her demeanor was what we want, she is experienced, her albums were great- I can picture her putting everyone at ease.

Wheresmymule writes: seems to be very open to working within tight budgets. I've seen some of his work that is not on his website (he shot a Christmas party at my sister's and the pictures were just great).

She was a bit over our budget, but really liked her color pictures. After meeting with her, we felt there was a good vibe between us, and felt comfortable with her.
I'm happy that she'll be with us on our wedding day.

These prices are for a Fall 2007 wedding, so the prices are subject to change.
$3500:
- Up to 8 hours of photography
- Minimum of 750 images shot (in a combination of film and digital, unless you want film only)
- An assistant/2nd photographer
- Good quality 4x6" prints (approx. 750 images)
- Ownership of the negatives/originals
- High-resolution digital files on a DVD of all images

We found fadi on wpja.com. His energy is AMAZING, loves his work. He didn’t show us a full album at the time, but we forgot to ask to see one: ask him to see an entire album. He told us about the company that does his albums and they are amazing but I did not see one. He had a portfolio of his favorite shots. He loves people and is sort of infectious. He was very receptive to suggestions. One thing he did which isn’t important to me but I thought was good for others was admission of your engagement shots to the times.

A few IB’s that post went with Henry and love him. We met with him recently and his price started at $2,600 for 8 hours, not including album, or $3,800 including an album. He also does the hard copy proofs, digital only, online viewing. There is an ala carte list of engagement sessions etc. He is willing to come to you and meet. He could not be sweeter and his use of color is spot on, even his blacks are true in digital.

To ensure that all of the moments are captured, there is no limit on the number of shots I take. 8-hour coverage is $2,600.

You receive and keep the following:

1. Hi resolution digital negatives in DVD

2. Unmark proof images in 4x6 prints, including black and whites, or a super duper awesome proof book with the same images.

All coverages include an assistant and traveling.
